Mothers Day

We had a houseful last night, good friends came up to sleep over and we ate, drank and were merry!! The kids went off to bed relatively struggle free and were all sound asleep at a not too insane time. Of course the 'adults' stayed up way too late yakking!
After trying to organize this stay for well over a year, its so great to have finally coordinated something. It was a good night!
Sometimes we find we cannot spare the time for many reasons but if you wait for the wind to be blowing in the exact right direction you can miss out on great fun.
It can be hard after a night like this to have a fuss free day, tired kids and grown ups. (I don't bounce back so easy these days)
But Mother's Day has been really special and I had a really lovely day. Maybe something to do with the energy boost from the nutritious chocolates and I get a such a kick out of my flowers every glimpse I get.
The top photo is an oldie of my Mother and I, I love this one very much.
And above photo is when Maeve and Fiann, just born, first met each other!
Happy Mothers Day!!
Special wishes for you all... and lots of Chocolate.

P.S. If anyone is reading this who might like to hint at how to put a button on blog.. I'd feel a little less 'Dr Awkward'
Also I have NO idea of how to link to people without it looking like this - http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/
When I'd really like it to look more like this.....
Hello! It's Meet me at Mikes

New Grannies

'A Granny a Day' is such fun and its great we are still going! I love seeing what other colors people have been putting together and the all the different patterns they are using. I love the spiral one particulary! It reminds me of the Mandelbrot set!
I must admit after being inspired by other peoples Granny squares that I have really, really wished for some different colors but stuck to my old stash, making the most of what I have. Oh well!!
I am not sure how I might use these Granny squares, should I mix it up more with the bigger squares or keep them all tiny? Hmmm?
Check out Pip's lovely granny!!

Oldies but Goodies

I Love Friday nights, as always! We have had loads of after school activity even with unwell young ones and we are still all here. Pheww!
I am 'keeping it brief'.... again!
Pip from 'Meet me at Mikes' - http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/ has had a great sujestion, again, to just choose a year (birth year)- type it into the search box at Flickr.com and pop your fave results on your blog! As I am a very cautious new blogger and have very little idea of just what I can throw on my blog, I thought I would post some of my family. (can you tell I am an old technodeficiant?)
This photo is of my mother (Fay/Nana Belle) and Randy, our 1st Corgi, I'm not excactly sure where the name 'Randy' came from and neither is my mum!
How cute is her fluffy wool cardie, they were all the go then, I think and this is one of my very favorite photos ever! It is so wonderful to see your folks or yourself in their early days.

Happy, happy Friday!!!!!!!! Chele x

Because they are so thin unlike the supermarket variety you can toast straight over gas stove holding with tongs, keep flipping it one side to the other. Only takes less than a minute. REALLY YUMMY. Try it.
We go through SO Many here! You can get them from Indian Grocery stores, 'India at home' has locations all over Melbourne. Great prices for spices and its such an inspiration to browse the food!

P.S. I wish someone would organise tours of Indian, Asian, African, Middle Eastern, Spanish etc... Grocery Stores with lots of sample tastings of different cusine and products along the way... If anyone does this, please let me know, I am so there!

Friday... YAY

Here is my 2nd batch of preserved Lemons! Now that I have finally got around to trying them, in a Chicken tajine, I can't get enough. I dont use a Tagine, just a big heavy based pot with a tight fitting lid. It is a really easy 1 pot meal. The recipe I like to use is at 'Food Safari' web site here- http://www.sbs.com.au/food/foodsafari
In series 1 -Moroccan dishes... Mmmmorroccan!
I love food safari, it has Delicious recipes from top chefs and housewives cooking at home. Dishes from all cultures! Multicultural love!! The most fantastic way of getting to know a culture and breaking down barriers is through good food! Cheers!
Opps and another Granny Square for 'Granny a Day' http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/2009/04/granny-day-til-end-o-may.html
Have a great weekend! TGIF!
